Parent Cafe: Taking Care of Yourself (Resilience, Relationships, Support)
About this Course:
Parent Cafés are physically and emotionally safe spaces where parents and caregivers talk about the challenges and victories of raising a family. Through individual deep self-reflection and peer-to-peer learning, participants explore their strengths, learn about the Protective Factors, and create strategies from their own wisdom and experiences to help strengthen their families.
Cafés are structured discussions that use the principles of adult learning and family support. They are highly sustainable with training reinforcement, institutional support, and a commitment to an approach that engages and affirms parents as leaders. Participants leave Parent Cafés feeling inspired, energized, and excited to put into practice what they’ve learned.
Who should attend:
This Parent Cafe is open to Professional Foster Parents at SOS Children's Villages Illinois and will count as training hours for Foster Parent License Renewal.
Important Reminders:
Please arrive promptly for training and be present and participatory for the entirety of training.
About the Instructor:
This course is designed and hosted by Be Strong Families. Since 2012, Be Strong Families has partnered with organizations, systems and communities to help families grow stronger from the inside out. They offer technical assistance and trainings to help create peer-to-peer discussions that promote vitality, provide emotional healing and foster peace.
